Liverpool’s core of world class players has reached a new level this year, but one name that’s been recognized as world class since his signing has been goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The Brazilian net minder has been absolutely crucial to shoring up Liverpool’s defense as his work with Virgil Van Dijk has coincided with the team being incredibly stingy in terms of leaking goals.

Becker’s ability to play with the ball at his feet, though, and quick start counters with his long pass ability has been an added feature that has made him integral to the squad. In fact, this season, we’ve seen him play a direct pass for a vital goal. Becker is truly a special, special player.

To that end, he’d been racking up a fair few number of individual accolades coming off of Liverpool’s Champions League winning run and one of those awards was the Samba Gold award. It’s a trophy awarded to Brazil’s best player and Alisson winning marks the first time a keeper has won.

He’d been awarded the prize earlier this year, but per a report from the official site, has only just received his trophy. You can click here to see the Brazilian number 1 holding his prized award.
