ATLETICO MADRID VS LIVERPOOL
| Tuesday, February 18th |
Champions League | Estadio Wanda Metropolitano
8PM GMT/3PM EST
Liverpool make their return to A Stadium Called Wanda tonight. They will no doubt have fond memories of lifting #6 in this stadium last June, but there is a very different challenge facing the lads tonight. Last time out, it was the culmination of a fantastic season, one that rightfully ended with at least one major trophy. This time, we’ve already pocketed a couple of trophies, and the league title is all but guaranteed. However, Jurgen Klopp & Co. know that one of the measures of true greatness is the ability to do it domestically and internationally. And after two runs to the final, anything less than another deep run will be disappointing.
In our way tonight is very good Atletico Madrid side. Although Diego Simeone’s charges aren’t as good as the ones who won La Liga and played their way to two Champions League finals several seasons ago, they will likely push us the entire 180 minutes (or more) over two legs. Liverpool will hope they can take any advantage, even a slim one, back to Anfield for the second leg. A scored draw or a win would be a big step toward securing a third quarterfinal trip in as many years for the Reds.
