Patrice Nevra, am I right?
The ex-Manchester United player dismissed talk of this Liverpool team being considered one of the great Premier League sides. While the Reds were without half of their starting XI, they still managed to get a decisive win against Leicester City when the Foxes visited Anfield on Sunday.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former defender scoffed at the idea of the reigning English champions being one of the great Premier League teams, declaring that it takes three consecutive titles to be considered great.
“We need to calm down, it’s only nine games. I will call them a great team when they win three league titles in a row,” Evra said nonsensically.
“If they don’t win this year, I won’t call them an amazing team – it’s all about consistency and they win the league year after year – that’s when we call them the great Liverpool team.“
Evra, who didn’t sound at all bitter that Liverpool are currently one of the best teams in the world, continued, “Many teams before that have done that and I will call them the best Liverpool team when they win three leagues in a row.”
One of the great joys of being the best is getting to watch our rivals fume as we keep breaking records and cruising passed teams even missing three out of four members of our back line, our captain, our top goalscorer and our marquee signing.
