Liverpool’s options on who they will face after dispatching Everton in the FA Cup over the weekend still included some big names, such as Manchester City. Thankfully, the Reds didn’t draw a giant.

They’ll still need to wait, though, on who their final opponent will be as they’ve drawn the winner of Bristol City and Shrewsbury Town. The two sides drew in their FA Cup tie and will need a replay in order to sort out who advances and will then get to host the league leaders and Champions of the World at their ground.

Regardless, this is going to be one of those Magic of the Cup™ moments as Liverpool will be playing the role of the Big Bad football side in this matchup against lower league opponents. Bristol City are currently sitting in 11th in the Championship and Shrewsbury Town are currently 14th in League One.

While Liverpool have a pretty lengthy record against Bristol City historically, sporting a 4w-1-d-2l record against them in the FA Cup, Shrewsbury Town are a bit more of a stranger. In fact, Liverpool only have one match played against them, back in 1996. Liverpool won that match 4-nil in the FA Cup.

Regardless, the guess will be that with the match scheduled to take about 48 hours after the Reds Premier League match against Wolves, it’s likely the squad that dispatched Everton will be called upon once more to do the business against either of Bristol or Shrewsbury. Here’s hoping the Baby Reds are up for the task.
