Last night while the senior Reds were dispatching West Ham 2-0 in Premier League action, the U23s were talking on Wolverhampton in something called the Premier League International Cup.
We don’t know what that is, either. But we do know that the goal 16-year-old starlet Harvey Elliott scored has everyone talking, and rightly so. Some are calling it an overhead kick. Others a bicycle kick.
We’ll let them fight it out over proper footballing terminology and just focus on watching the goal itself on repeat for the next two days until Liverpool kick off against Southampton. So. Let’s go.
We still have no idea how he pulled it off and if you say do you’re probably lying. It’s just a shame that there aren’t more angles of it available. Still, from any angle it was a stunning, world class finish.
Elliott and and the U23s are next in action on Saturday against the Arsenal kids before they take on Shrewsbury in Liverpool’s FA Cup replay next Tuesday in a match not expected to be televised.
