Pep Guardiola Waxes Eloquent About Liverpool’s Season

Just the kind of thing you want to indulge in after the first terrible match in a while.

Liverpool have had an incredible season. It goes without saying that 22 victories and 1 draw so far this season is an absolutely phenomenal result. And it’s not just us saying that, either. Pep Guardiola, manager of one of the worst cardigans in the history of the Premier League and also Manchester City, believes Liverpool could be the champions of any league in Europe.

“Liverpool obviously will be champions of the Premier League, but they would be champions in Spain, champions in Italy, champions in Germany,” Guardiola said this weekend.

”They would be champions everywhere after 23 games, 22 victories, 1 draw.

“In the recent past when Chelsea won the league, the next season, they didn’t qualify for the Champions League, Leicester the same, and Chelsea again the same. When [Manchester City] won the league we repeated the league,” he added, because presumably they wouldn’t let him come home if he didn’t also mention his team. “In Spain with the points [City] have we would be there, one or two points behind the leader, in Germany we would be there, one or two points behind the leader, in Italy as well.

”But Liverpool are just fantastic, phenomenal, overwhelming. So we have to accept it and learn from that.”

It’s good to hear that our opponents find us fantastic, phenomenal, and overwhelming, especially after one of the worst Liverpool performances we’ve seen in a while. Here’s hoping the team that Guardiola is talking about returns to the pitch on Wednesday against West Ham.
