Another chance to rest starters and give opportunities to youth and fringe players rears its head at the end of January for the Reds, as they will travel to Shropshire to take on Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup fourth round.
The Shrews defeated Championship opposition in the last round, eliminating Bristol City with a 1-0 win in a third round replay on Tuesday night, and will be looking to take an even bigger scalp when they host the Reds on January 26th.
The two sides have only met once in official competition before, with Liverpool eliminating Salop in the fourth round of the FA Cup back in 1996, running out 4-0 winners on the night. Goalscorers on that occasion were Stan Collymore, Robbie Fowler and Phil Babb.
Sandwiched between away trips to Wolves and West Ham, the traveling squad for the short trip south will undoubtedly be light on superstars and largely reliant on up-and-coming starlets, but given how the Baby Reds have performed in cup competition thus far this season, one would do well not to rule them out.
