This January transfer window may not be the flashiest for Liverpool, but their two winter signings have both gotten off to a good start. Takumi Minamino made his debut against Everton in the FA Cup and acquitted himself well in Liverpool’s victory over their next door neighbors.

Most recently, Joe Hardy, the 21-year-old attacker brought in from Brentford made quite the splash when he put away two goals to help guide the Liverpool U-23s to victory over the Southampton U-23s in the Premier League 2.

Neil Critchley’s men put up an impressive five goals against Southampton on the day, aided by the return of Harvey Elliott, Neco Williams, and Curtis Jones, all of whom got first team call-ups in the FA Cup.

Hardy was responsible for two of the three goals the Reds scored in the first half, with Elliott’s third minute strike accounting for the other. Liverpool hero Jones was the provider of Hardy’s second, and then got the fourth goal of the night for himself. Rounding out the scoring was returning striker Liam Millar, who put the fifth and final nail in Southampton’s coffin.
