There aren’t many words left for me to describe Trent Alexander-Arnold. Hometown hero. Superstar. World’s best fullback. The talented Scouse legend is, at present, all of those things.
And beyond that, we’ve also written extensively about his level-headed demeanor and how he relishes being a leader and role model within his community. As someone who has a clear soft-spot for people who love the place they’ve called home, I have to admit that TAA’s meteoric rise has been one that’s got me placing him right at the top of my personal favorite players. There’s just something incredibly disarming and resonant about the young man.
It’s very clear that the fans of Liverpool very much feel the same way. From the infamous mural of him in the City to the way the Kop reacts when he’s on the ball, Merseyside feels one hundred percent behind their hometown lad.
It is no surprise, then, that after a December that saw him among the bright lights that led the squad through the festive fixture season unscathed and one more trophy to the good, the fans would opt to reward him for his efforts. The club have officially announced that they’ve done just that as TAA takes home the fan-voted Standard Charter Player of the Month for December.
TAA’s stellar play in December includes 4 assists and 1 goal, scored in that masterclass performance on Boxing Day against closest chasers in the Premier League, Leicester City. His play on the wing has been integral all season, but with lineup shuffling due to injury and congestion, having Trent’s reliable work out wide was invaluable to the squad being able to keep their title rivals at bay.
Here’s hoping Trent and the rest of the Reds continue to put in the type of performances to not only warrant fan acclaim, but the type that keeps the squad flying high at the top of the table.
