Get hype: Endearing Liverpool fan favorite Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his return to action on Friday for Jürgen Klopp’s incredible Reds, to help the team defeat Huddersfield 5-0. It was the player’s first time on the pitch since last April when he tore his ACL after an innocuous-looking challenge in the Champions League semi-final first leg against AS Roma.

But now he’s back, less than a week before this season’s semi-final against Barcelona on Wednesday and to provide help in the last two league games of the season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain looked excited and long-past ready to jump into the fray when he was substituted in at the 73rd minute. The fans were jubilant on his behalf as well, and all of Anfield rose to give the England man a standing ovation as he stepped onto the pitch.

After, Oxlade-Chamberlain went on Instagram to thank the fans for his warm reception, saying it was something he’d “remember for life.”

Look at that smile. It’s been a long road to recovery for Oxlade-Chamberlain, but the fact that he can feature at all in this season for Liverpool is something we hadn’t thought was possible when it first happened. Hopefully having him back, along with Joe Gomez, will mean that there are good things to come for the Reds in the coming few weeks.
