In what has become a bit of a trend under Jürgen Klopp — but was upsettingly rare in the past decade — Liverpool are in with a shot at silverware as we head into the final month of the season. Having lead the team to Europa and Champions League finals, the German sees his side compete for two trophies this year, battling it out with Manchester City for the Premier League crown, and set to face Barcelona in the CL semi-finals.
As such, fans have immediate, pertinent issues to focus on, rather than setting their sights on the summer transfer window and the infamous next season. This does not mean, of course, that work is not being done behind the scenes in preparation for the phase that comes after the final ball of the 2018/19 season has been kicked. And one of those phases is the pre-season.
Part physical preparation, part marketing device, pre-season activities allow fans who rarely, if ever, can make the pilgrimage to Anfield, an opportunity to see their idols — and a selection of second-stringers and promising prospects — up close and in the flesh. For a club with as widespread a fanbase as Liverpool, this typically means the Reds will divide their time between continents from year to year, attempting to sate as many of their supporters as possible.
Not this time, however! For the second year in a row, Liverpool will take their pre-season campaign to the United States, playing in a trio of historic stadiums along the way. The Reds will face Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting CP in Notre Dame Stadium, Fenway Park, and the Yankee Stadium, respectively, between July 19th and 24th.
Ticket information will be available here, and should all go well in the upcoming five or six games, US-based Reds will be able to greet newly minted double champions a little under three months from now.
