The bad luck continued for Liverpool Football Club against their hometown rivals, Everton, when the U23s lost 2-0 against them on Monday at Anfield.

Everton’s Nathan Broadhead scored a double, which put the game out of reach for the hapless Reds. He scored the first goal in the eighth minute and knocked in the second to put the game out of reach in the 87th minute. Jürgen Klopp attended the game on Monday night to see the team’s defeat.

Some notable players featured in the game, including Ben Woodburn, who has been having a frustrating and disappointing season. The 19-year-old returned from an unsuccessful loan stint at Sheffield United and is working his way back into the team.

Woodburn and teammate Rafa Camacho both created chances for the team, but neither was able to capitalise on their goalscoring opportunities. It’s never a good sign when the goalkeeper is the best player in a game, but in this instance, it was Caoimhin Kelleher who was the standout on the night.

This defeat marked the end of a 13-game unbeaten run for Neil Critchley’s men. Everton U23s are at the top of the Premier League 2 table, while Liverpool hover in fifth place.
