It’s no secret that after five years at Liverpool, everyones favorite hover-board riding leftback Alberto Moreno is liking to depart this summer in order to find more regular playing time. That means Liverpool will likely look to find a backup for Andy Robertson this summer, whether through the transfer market or within the team.
Another poorly kept secret is that Real Madrid kind of sucks right now. Not like, actually sucks, but they definitely suck by Real Madrid standards. Whenever Real Madrid sucks, they usually remedy that by shipping off some of their older players to the glue factory and then spend a bazillion dollars on Europe’s finest talent.
According to ESPN, one of the Real Madrid players that might not have a future at the Santiago Bernabéu is Brazilian leftback Marcelo. Zinedine Zidane wants to infuse the Spanish giants with a fresh crop of younger talent. So, who is rumored to be Zidane’s choice replacement is Real Betis leftback Junior Firpo.
Other than just having a fun name, there’s every indiction that Firpo is probably really good at doing the football. It’s rumored that in addition to Madrid that Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester City, and yes, Liverpool are monitoring the Spanish U-21 fullback who has a release clause of €50 million this summer.
Are Liverpool going to spend that much on Andy Robertson’s back up? Hell no. Is it international break and am I forced to dredge up things to talk about? Hell yes.
