This could have been a stumbling block, and almost was a stumbling block, for Liverpool. After a convincing performance away to knock out Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Liverpool traveled to Craven Cottage to take on Scott Parker’s Fulham side, who look set to be relegated at the end of this season.
The Reds scored the first goal through Sadio Mané, who seems determined to push this team’s title challenge forward almost single-handedly at this point. The visitors continued to threaten and controlled the first half, but sloppiness and resolute last-ditch defending from Fulham kept things at a one goal difference.
Unsurprisingly, Fulham grew into the match following a tactical tweak after halftime, and a calamitous mixup between Alisson and Virgil van Dijk allowed former Liverpool man Ryan Babel to notch an equalizer. With their title challenge on life support, Mané won a penalty after he was pulled back, and James Milner calmly converted from the spot. Klopp’s side will live to fight on, as the international break rears its ugly head once again.
Now let us know how you saw it. The usual ranker is dead so cast your votes in the old-fashioned manner, picking the player you felt stood out for the Reds.
