ASTON VILLA VS LIVERPOOL
| Tuesday, December 17th |
Carabao Cup | Villa Park
7:45PM BST/2:45PM EST
Fixture congestion has reached its zenith, and what looks like it might just end up being a historically good Reds team are right at the heart of it, becoming the first Liverpool side to play two games on different continents in less than 24 hours. Aren’t you excited?!
Naturally, this means that by necessity, the squads for the two games will be entirely different, and with Liverpool deciding to prioritise the Club World Cup in Qatar over the Carabao Cup in Birmingham — much to the chagrin of proud Brexiteers and people with genuine objections to the notion of participating in a competition hosted by a human rights violation nightmare alike — the team that faces Aston Villa tonight will consist mostly of children.
Even Jürgen Klopp will be missing, as Neil Critchley is set to lead the Baby Reds into senior fixture action for the first time, taking charge of a team featuring Ben Winterbottom, Dixon Bonner and other names you’d swear were made up.
Aston Villa, on their end, will see this is a great opportunity to reach the EFL Cup final for the first time in a decade, not to mention a wonderful chance to get nutmegged twice by a minor with shaved eyebrows. The Magic of the Cup™!
