Liverpool Make Annual Holiday Trip to Alder Hey

Liverpool as a club often market themselves as being inseparable from the community and city. That they view the presence of the club as an extension of the people that root for it.

In order for that to hold any real weight, of course, the club would have to embody the same spirit of the city. It would have to embrace a desire to work and a love of place. It would have to express a responsibility that extends beyond the individual and towards the entire community.

In essence, Liverpool Football Club would really have to live out its club motto: You’ll Never Walk Alone.

In order to do so, the club have constantly involved themselves in dealings directly with the community. From meeting directly with fans to charity work, the club seeks to truly live out the club ethos via its actions.

On Thursday afternoon, the club - including the first team and manager Jurgen Klopp - completed its annual holiday visit to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The club are a regular presence at the facility, as we’ve reported previously. So, this visit isn’t merely a once-a-year PR moment.

It is, though, a very special trip as we know that the holiday season is often one that is presented as a period meant for family. And one can imagine that for people who have to spend the holidays in a hospital, that can be quite difficult. Being present for the kids at Alder Hey, then, is a small act of kindness for the players.

For the youth at the facility, though, it must be immense. I mean, imagine knowing that the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah would come to see you? How big would your smile be if Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, or The Admiral himself, Naby Keita, sidled up to your hospital room? The small sacrifice from the players likely made a young child’s entire week.

More, it reminded them that as they recuperate, they aren’t forgotten. That they don’t walk alone.
