Liverpool’s bright and charming midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, has quickly entered the ranks of cult hero status among Reds. Part of it is that while his transfer was treated skeptically, he has been nothing short of a delight when on the pitch. Whether scoring epic goals or diligently working hard, AOC has been a consistent highlight for Liverpool fans during his time with the club.

Off the pitch, he’s been somehow even more lovable. Engaging, charismatic, and absolutely hilarious when doing promotional pieces for LFCTV, it’s easy to see why the Ox is so beloved. He simply exudes the freewheeling, fun-loving, and good-natured vibe that seems to be hallmark of this Jurgen Klopp side.

Which is what made the serious injury he sustained in 2018 such a tough blow. Having put in terrific performances (including a thunder strike against Manchester City) and with the club in the midst of title pushing runs in both the Premier League and Champions League, fans felt the blow of losing a vital cog in the team, despite having only had him around for a handful of months at that point.

Seeing him in full flight this year, then, has been an absolute treat for fans. And knowing that not only is the lovable lad in full health, but that the time off hasn’t exactly robbed him of the ability to put in absolute stunners (such as that sublime, outside of the boot chip from beyond the box against Genk) is an added bonus. To that end, following a month in which the Ox managed to put on quite a show, the official site announced today that fans voted him as the Player of the Month for October.

It’s no doubt going to come as a boost for the midfielder and a well-earned set of plaudits from the fans. Here’s hoping that he can continue that form because, when he’s on, he provides a dimension from midfield that the squad really needs. Besides, we want more Ox regardless, cause he's clearly the MVP of videos like the one below.
