Liverpool 2, Brighton 1: Man Of The Match

After what seemed a comfortable romp turned into yet another nervy 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion, we want you to rate your man of the match.

Well now. After a comfortable first half with two well taken headed goals by Virgil van Dijk, things got a bit dicey in the second half. Then again, a comfortable win just wouldn’t fit this season’s narrative, would it? Despite the boneheaded play from Alisson Becker, there were some great performances. Trent Alexander-Arnold provided phenomenal service for both of van Dijk’s goals, and Andrew Robertson and his dodgy ankle was a constant threat on the left side. Sadio Mane didn’t show up on the score sheet, but he was electric yet again.

With our favoured polling tool out of service, we’re instead giving you a choice between a few of the players we thought looked best today for the Reds, so make your choice below and vote for who you think should be the man of the match—or take to the comments to let us know that we got it wrong by leaving the real man of the match off the list entirely.

As always, anyone visiting on Apple News or Google AMP who wish to vote and can’t see the poll can make it visible by navigating to the front page of The Liverpool Offside and re-entering the story.
