For two Champions League seasons in a row now, Napoli have been a thorn in Liverpool’s side. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are the only team who have been able to beat the Reds in any competition this season, when they met them in Naples.
But now Napoli travel to Fortress Anfield, and the Reds have a chance to lock down a spot in the Round of 16 if they can beat them on Wednesday.
“An incredibly strong opponent in a difficult situation - we know that - but that makes them even more dangerous for us because they don’t play in Italy now, nobody speaks about the problems, they speak about the opportunity to go through. They are really strong and we have to be at our best,” Klopp explained at the pre-game press conference.
”But this morning I realised when I woke up that the next three games are home games and that pushed my mood massively actually. Not that I was in a bad mood, but now I’m really in a good mood, so that’s really cool.
”Tomorrow night is the first one of them and it’s very, very important for us, how everyone knows.
”We all need to get on our toes again and create a very, very special atmosphere. We should never take it for granted, we don’t take it for granted, people shouldn’t take it for granted.
”We have to be there 100 per cent spot on and do the best we can.”
Strap in, lasses and lads, because the next six weeks, starting on Wednesday, are going to be a wild ride.
