Joe Gomez has had a hell of a week and it’s seemingly gotten worse. The Liverpool defender has picked up a knock in training with the England National Team and will be returning to Merseyside for an evaluation. Jordan Henderson, who has been battling some sort of illness, is also set to return home. It sounds like it’s the same illness that kept him out of the team for Liverpool’s Champions League match against Genk last week.

A statement from the FA released this morning read: “Jordan Henderson will miss England’s final UEFA EURO 2020 qualifier in Kosovo on Sunday.

“Henderson arrived in camp with a viral infection that has not fully cleared. Meanwhile, his Liverpool team-mate Gomez sustained a knock in training on Friday and has not recovered sufficiently enough to travel.

“The pair now returned to their club meaning the Three Lions will head to Pristina on Saturday with a 23-man squad.”
