Mohamed Salah is a special footballer. Industrious, athletic, incisive, skilled. It is no secret that he is among the world’s best right now and fans of Liverpool continue to shower their praise on the 26 year old winger from Egypt.

Today, Liverpool fans gave Salah another honor by naming him the club’s player of the month for the second time this season. The Standard Charter Player of the Month award is based on a fan vote and Salah brings home the accolade for the month of December to go along with his previous win in October.

Coming off the heels of an incandescent December in which Salah netted 7 goals, including a hat trick at Bournemouth and the all-important goal against Napoli to secure advancement to the next round in the Champions League, Salah is an incredibly deserving selection. More, it is a nice book-end to that string of performances along with being named the CAF African Player of the Year. Seems Salah is nabbing these honors at nearly the same rate and efficiency as he does goals. More, this set of accolades seems a very neat cap on top of a terrific 18 months for the Egyptian striker.

With all of this news and success swirling about, it’d be easy to suppose that Salah would find himself entirely in his own head. His own comments in response to receiving the CAF award indicate that the same sweet and humble Mo is still with us:

“I am always very happy to win that award – it’s always been special to me to win it. I have to also say that Sadio also deserves it because he had an unbelievable year, but I’m happy about the award.”

Everything, it appears, is coming up Mo. It’s a terrific time for Liverpool FC.
