Liverpool Keeper Out For A Month In Training Ground Injury

Liverpool youngster, Caoimhin Kelleher experienced a setback in his rise from the academy to the Reds first team after sustaining an knock in training.

The ECHO has reported that the 19-year-old goalkeeper collided with Divock Origi during a drill on Tuesday, with the shot stopper walking away with gash on his thigh. The injury takes the Republic of Ireland international out of contention to make the squad for the first team’s trip to Wembley on Saturday to take on Tottenham. Second choice keeper, Simon Mignolet is also currently struggling with an injury to his finger.

Kelleher will be disappointed that he won’t be able to build on several strong outings in preseason that led to him earning no. 3 spot in the pecking order with Loris Karius on loan with Besiktas. Now, as Jürgen Klopp’s squad get set to take on a tough run of fixtures with Kelleher unavailable, Mignolet racing for fitness and Karius out of the picture, it falls to fellow academy graduate Kamil Grabara to back up first choice Alisson Becker.
