Some potentially encouraging news surfaced recently about 53-year-old Liverpool supporter Sean Cox, a father of three who was viciously attacked and left with serious injuries by men from Rome. The attack occurred shortly before Liverpool’s Champions League fixture against AS Roma at Anfield on May 24.

Reports from various channels have indicated that Mr. Cox, who had been airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Ireland to resume treatment for brain injuries, has regained consciousness and is undergoing “dedicated rehabilitation.” If accurate, the development would represent a significant, and much welcomed, further step in his recovery, and the news has been embraced by fellow supporters and those close to the club alike.

Liverpool’s players memorably gathered around a banner in support of Mr. Cox following their dramatic progression past Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on May 2. Here’s hoping that his recovery continues well, and that he can get back to watching his beloved club in the not too distant future.
