Well, the blindingly obvious has finally happened: Emre Can is moving to Juventus on a free in possibly the one transfer of the summer so far completely devoid of anything approaching drama.
Four seasons, 166 appearances and one hell of a bicycle kick. Although the 24-year-old never fully lived up to the potential he showed in his time at Anfield, one cannot doubt his service to the club and the memories he helped to create.
Once touted as a potential Reds captain, the well-coiffed, ever-classy German said farewell to Liverpool supporters through a poignant post on Instagram.
”Today is the first day of a new chapter of my life,” Can said in the Instagram message.
”I want to say thank you to all the people of Liverpool, to my coaches, to the staff, to the staff behind the staff, the supporters, to everyone.
”I will always think back with a smile and one piece of my heart will always be in Liverpool.
”It was a big honour for me to play for Liverpool. I hope to see you one day again. Take care. Yours Emre.”
Thanks for the memories. YNWA.
