The Reds showed little signs of taking their collective feet of the brake, with the manager naming an arguably full-strength starting lineup. The players answered the call, buzzing about the visitors with purpose from the opening. Sadio Mané started the scoring in the 7th minute, latching on to a Jordan Henderson pass. Although Begovic did well to block the initial header, the Bournemouth keeper was unable to keep out the rebound.
And so it stayed for the first half, despite Liverpool exerting a constant if not quite lethal pressure. The hosts were unable to replicate the degree of havoc in the second half, as Bournemouth remained well-organized. But man of the moment Mohamed Salah - who may have been guilty of trying a bit too hard in the first - conjured a moment of magic off a Trent Alexander-Arnold pass that may have been just as magical. Not to be left out, Roberto Firmino added a third in the dying minutes of the match to wrap it up in style.
Now let us know how you saw it. Hitting the thumbs up button is a vote to move the player up the list—or to help keep them on top. Hitting thumbs down is a vote to push that player closer to the bottom. It’s half man of the match poll and half power ranking, and we want to use it to find out who you think played well after each Liverpool match and, at the other end, who you’d maybe like to see given the next game off.
At the end of the month we’ll go through the results of the month’s polls and vote The Liverpool Offside’s player of the month and, come next May, those monthly results will help to determine your TLO player of the season for 2017-18. Those visiting on Google AMP who wish to vote will have to navigate to the front page and re-enter the story to access the non-AMP version of it.
