Mohamed Salah And Oxlade-Chamberlain Up For Goal Of The Week

Weird that no Manchester City players made the Champions League short list.

UEFA released the short list of Champions League Goal of the Week candidates, and wouldn’t you know it? It contains two Liverpool players on the five-man list.

The strikes in question come courtesy of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mohamed Salah, from the home and away ties, respectively, against Manchester City.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s right-footed thunderbolt from 25 meters put Liverpool up 2-0 en route to a 3-0 home victory.

And Mohamed Salah’s chipped left-footed effort from a tight angle, whilst perhaps not as impressive as his teammate’s, was the all-important away goal, which effectively ended the tie.

However, the Liverpool pair face some stiff competition. Former Liverpool player Luis Suarez and Juventus’s Mario Mandzukic were also nominated, but the biggest test for the Liverpool duo is likely to come from Cristiano Ronaldo’s sublime overhead kick which capped off Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Juventus.

You can watch all the goals, and then vote for the Liverpool player of your choice here.
