Last night, Mohamed Salah bagged his 39th—and up until now, most important—goal of the season. The Egyptian has now more than doubled his previous best goal-scoring campaign, and has an outside shout at making a run at Ian Rush’s previously untouchable 47-goal single season record for the club.
His expertly chipped finish over Nicolás Otamendi cancelled out Manchester City’s early strike, and effectively ended the two-legged tie, seeing Liverpool qualify for the Champions League semifinals for the first time in ten years.
Salah’s effort against City is a big reason why Jürgen Klopp’s Reds have managed to claim three victories this season over league champions-elect. In the last three matches against the blue-clad foes, Liverpool’s main man has scored three goals, and added two assists. You can watch all of these goal contributions—2 from the league, and 3 from the Champions League—below.
Long may this scoring form continue. If it does, there’s no limit to how for these Reds can go.
