After cooling their interests in both Lemar and Alisson, the LFC transfer rumor mill seemed to be on the wane. And why not? The window’s been closed for over two weeks now and the summer window won’t open until, well, the summer.
“Not so fast!” yell the rumor mongers, though. Out of Brazil, 20 year old phenom Malcom has given the purveyors of transfer rumors a tasty little niblet. While speaking to local Brazilian outlet UOL, Malcom made it explicitly clear that his days as a member of Bordeaux’s outfit were numbered. In fact, he noted that he was hoping for a winter move but that Bordeaux blocked it.
“Yes, there was a promise that I will be negotiating in June. I will choose the team, and Bordeaux will let me go.
“I already said that I would have liked to leave this winter to meet new challenges. But I must also remember that Bordeaux helped me a lot.”
The winger has been rumored to be a replacement for Philippe Coutinho as his ability to take on and beat defenders 1-v-1 is rated as a plus. But, of course, the challenge for his signature will not come easy: Arsenal and Tottenham are both reportedly keen on acquiring the playmaker.
All told, it appears there is at least the fact that, at a position of perceived need, there is a player that is making it clear he is available. Whether or not he is actually the player LFC will eventually mark as the one to fill the Unicorn-sized void in the attack, time can only tell.
