With the likes of Roberto Firmino, Danny Ings and probably even Ben Woodburn ahead of him at Anfield, Harry Wilson always needed an extended first team run out on loan to continue his development as a player.
Having done all he could to gain Jürgen Klopp’s attention in banging in goals for fun for the Liverpool youth side, the Welshman nevertheless has found it difficult to work his way into the first team in the dogged fight for Champions League places.
Thankfully, the club managed to secure the talented 20-year-old on a new deal before sending him out on loan with Championship side, Hull City to get valuable game time in their relegation battle.
After coming on as a substitute for Frazier Campbell in a 2-1 defeat to Preston North End at the end of January, Wilson started as he means to go on in his full debut against Nottingham Forrest, sealing the three points with a close range poacher’s finish in a 2-0 victory.
Liverpool fans will be glad to see such a talent getting valuable first team minutes for a side that will utilize the goal-hungry forward’s abilities and can expect more goals to come over the next few months.
