And just like that, Liverpool kick-off the proper run of festive fixtures with a straightforward 2-nil victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. As expected, the West Midlands squad played a relatively open style and had a chance or two that could have rewarded their efforts. All told, though, the quality of Liverpool’s squad was just too much. On the strength of goals from Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk - the latter being the Dutchman’s first Premier League goal for the Reds - Liverpool ensure that they will spend Christmas atop the Premier League and, of course, unbeaten.
