A winning formula starts with ingredients. In particular, you’ll need:
One cup of butter, softened; one cup of white sugar; one cup of packed brown sugar; two eggs; two teaspoons of vanilla extract; one teaspoon of baking soda; two teaspoons of hot water; one-half teaspoon of salt; three cups of all-purpose flour; two cups of semisweet chocolate chips; one cup of chopped walnuts (optional).
From there, the directions are pretty straight-forward:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
- Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
It should be about 20 minutes of prep time, and 10 minutes of baking. It is recommended to first let them cool, but warm chocolate chip cookies are kind of the best.
We’ll be back to regularly scheduled coverage in a couple hours after the hangover subsides.
