In a sit down interview with Hazard that was mostly focused on the Chelsea player’s career and what nots, but he was asked about some of the best defenders he’s ever played against.
After complementing his Belgian National Team teammate Vincent Kompany, Hazard turned his focus to the dutch centerback, “Virgil van Dijk since last year is one of the best in the world for sure. To play against him last Saturday, I can tell he is one of the best and he’s still young also.”
Liverpool fans have known for a while just how good van Dijk has been, but he’s stature as one of the best defenders in the world is on the rise. And, as Hazard points out, van Dijk can only get better as he gets older. What a sight that will be to watch.
Virgil van Dijk did not feature in the EFL Cup game against Chelsea, but did feature for all 90 minutes in the league game last weekend. He is excepted to start tomorrow against Vincent Kompany’s Manchester City.
