Earlier this week we wrote about that Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho might have to sit out the FA Cup clash with Everton, owing to minor injuries that kept both out of the trip to Burnley on New Years’ Day.

Today, manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed those fears. Both of Liverpool’s high-scoring superstars will miss out on the 230th Merseyside Derby tomorrow evening.

Klopp did temper the news by saying that the injuries to both players— Salah with his groin, Coutinho with his thigh— were “not big.” He also said that Coutinho could be back in time for Liverpool’s huge game against runaway title favorites Manchester City. (Transfer gossip notwithstanding, of course.)

So that stinks. Here’s hoping both players— and Salah in particular— are back in the squad soon.
