Liverpool received some shocking bad luck when their 17-year-old talent Rhian Brewster had to be stretchered off the pitch during Liverpool Under 23s 3-2 loss to Manchester City Under 23s.
Brewster started the match and had a shot hit the post before taking a nasty fall at the end of the first half. The youngster was transported the hospital and still has to be assessed, but manager Neil Critchley fears the worst.
“It doesn’t look good at this moment in time; he seemed in a lot of pain and fell awkwardly,” he said. “I don’t want to speculate too much but he’s going off to hospital and he’ll get assessed then. We’re hopeful we can get some good news because I’ll be devastated for the boy if it’s bad news.”
Indeed, it would be extremely unfortunate if Brewster, who recently made waves by doing an interview where he opened up about the racism that he’s faced on the pitch, were to miss out on a significant portion of the season.
