The season may just be kicking off, but 2017 is almost at an end, which means that the yearly accolades are at hand. Two Liverpool youngsters who have made a splash this calendar year were Joe Gomez and Dominic Solanke. Both players have made the 25-man shortlist for the 2017 European Golden Boy Award.
The award honors the best U21 player in Europe and will be awarded next month.
For Gomez, this will be a sweet reward for his hard work recovering from a very long injury break. He fought his way back into Klopp’s plans and now sees significant minutes in Liverpool’s defense. He was also named the captain of the England U21 team back in August.
Dominic Solanke, who came to Liverpool this summer from Chelsea, previously earned the Golden Ball award for best player in the U20 World Cup this past summer. The young attacker scored four goal in the tournament to help lead England to victory.
