John Arne Riise

Time to strap on your lederhosen (or some approximation thereof), grab a maß of bier, and get ready for this Audi Cup showdown between two 5-time European Champions in the heart of Bavaria. With respect to Atletico Madrid, Napoli, and Bilbao, tonight’s preseason match-up will likely be the biggest challenge the Reds face prior to the start of the Premier League campaign in 11 days. (Who’s counting?) With two matches in as many days, it will be interesting to see how Klopp approaches the line-ups. My guess is that tonight’s line-up will be as close as possible to the line-up we will see against Bilbao this weekend, and to start the league campaign a week thereafter.

Nathaniel Clyne is still out with software upgrades, and Joe Gomez picked up a slight knock last time out in Berlin and will be kept out as a precautionary measure. This leaves the (English) Reds a bit thin at right back. Other than that, Divock Origi, James Milner, Ben Woodburn, and James Milner are also fighting minor ailments, and will likely miss out. Regardless, it should be a great test at one of football’s great modern venues. The Reds vs. Die Roten. Let’s do this.
