Plenty of metaphorical ink has been spilled on this site and others over the past few days about the contributions of Lucas Leiva to Liverpool. With a decade of loyal service under his belt, Lucas was Liverpool’s longest-serving player, and a leader both on and off the pitch.
But we knew this day was going to come eventually. Transfer window after transfer window has been hounded by rumors of Lucas’s departure from the club, only for the pundits, journalists, and Twitter warriors to be proved wrong. Finally, though, it’s happened. And with Lucas’s move to Italy becoming official, there have been plenty of looks back at his time with the club.
Watch below as Lucas’s teammates getting in on the action. The club’s official Twitter posted this message to Lucas from his friends, now thousands of miles away in Hong Kong competing in the Premier League Asia Trophy.
Several players talk about their experiences with Lucas, including captain Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Daniel Sturridge, Simon Mignolet, and Alberto Moreno.
