Will Mohamed Salah get on the pitch at the DW Stadium? What else is there? Building fitness isn’t exciting entertainment. We need stimulation and we need it yesterday. Salah or bust. Plus there’s Coutinho and Lallana. They should be involved, too.

Otherwise expect a similar cast of characters to what we saw against Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday. The eager, young players hoping for a solid season under Jürgen Klopp’s tutelage will be there along with the first-teamers who have made it back from their holidays and been through the running of the gauntlet at Melwood. Except for Salah, of course, who spent the past few days in Paris and who we’ll hope is at peak everything and ready to run and press from the off while delighting in the shower of cheers that the traveling Liverpool supporters will have for him.

The last time Liverpool made it to the DW Stadium was a preseason game a year ago. Liverpool won that match 2-0 thanks to goals from Danny Ings and Ben Woodburn. Woodburn will have his chance to shine again while Ings remains sidelined continuing his rehabilitation.

It should all be good fun, then, what with Salah and today’s surprise announcement from the club that both Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho will definitely be included in the squad tonight.

Fitness, spitness. Let’s have some fun.
