Welcome back to Liverpool, Phil. The Little Magician has returned from Brazil and checked into Melwood for fitness assessments before being cleared to train with his teammates. Coutinho joins Adam Lallana as the last two players to return to Merseyside in preparation for the pre-season fixtures in England and abroad as far as Asia for the Premier League Asia Cup.

“I am very happy to be back here and I am ready to start pre-season,” Coutinho told the official site.

“I had a very good summer with my family and friends in Brazil and had enough time to rest and enjoy it. But it was nice to come back in and see my teammates here today. I am not training with them yet, but soon I will be back with them and I am looking forward to that.”

Fans will be interested in seeing the chemistry between Coutinho and the other attacking players and new boy Mohamed Salah in the games to come. Coutinho seems eager to get back into it with his teammates, new and old, as well.

“I am working; every day I try to improve and I hope this season I can do even better than the last season,” he continued. “I am always aiming to improve.

“It was a good season. Of course, we wanted to win something, but we are ready here to start again to do everything to have a better season. Everyone has big confidence and this is the key for the players. I am confident – I think everyone is.”

Earning a place in the Champions League was a good start, but let’s hope that this confidence gets the team a trophy to raise this season as well.
