Liverpool legend Ian Rush was tapped for a special ambassador role for the Champions League Final in Cardiff. As part of the festivities, Rushie, sporting a fetching bright blue suit, carried the European Cup out onto the pitch prior to kickoff between Juventus and Real Madrid.
The suit caused something of a stir on Twitter— and with good reason.

After the game, which saw Real Madrid secure a comprehensive 4-1 victory, Rush brought the trophy up to the movable platform for the medal ceremony.

And on Friday, Rush spoke with the media and discussed what hosting the Champions League Final means to Cardiff.
"Special city, special stadium...it's amazing!"

In any event, it was lovely seeing our own resident silver fox get a stadium’s worth of applause and lift the European Cup (even if it was just ceremonial). Hopefully he’ll be available to come back and do this again next year in Kiev when Liverpool go for their sixth Champions League title.
