Take this one with a grain of salt, team.

In their near desperate search of an out-and-out striker, L’Equipe and The Express report that Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp reached out to Kylian Mbappé’s team last month in attempts to sign the 18 year old from Monaco.

Liverpool aren’t the only ones trying to court the current wunderkind, as there are other reports of Manchester United, Arsenal, and Real Madrid all vying for his signature. Reports also claim that Monaco have already rejected offers upwards of £100 million in an effort to retain the teenager.

L’Equipe also claim that Klopp has promised to make Mbappe the focal point of the team next season, should he sign. Considering the problems the team faced in January and February with the lack of an available and true striker, and Divock Origi in not exactly good form, the position has been one that supporters and Klopp alike have been in dire of shoring up.

Monaco and Kylian Mbappe, though, maybe not be the best place to be looking for that depth, considering the much bigger rivals in the way. Not to mention that maybe throwing £100M at an 18-year-old striker, no matter how talented, might be something of a gamble. While Liverpool may be able to swing some of their weight around now, it’s probably not enough to make this a viable option.
