With goals coming from all over the team, Roberto Firmino is one of many players who has several good goals to his name to choose from when asked to rank his goals. With a cool dozen under his belt last season, one might think it hard for the Brazilian to decide, but in the recent edition of the Official Liverpool FC magazine, it’s clear he’s already given it some thought.

“If you asked me for the best three goals I scored, I’d say Palace away in third place, the one at Stoke next, and then that second goal against Swansea,” he decided.

“We were 2-1 down when Gini won the ball on the left and I realised that he was going to cross it. I had to react very quickly and I dominated the ball with my chest. My only thought then was to shoot straight away.”

Unfortunately, against Swansea, Firmino’s brace wasn’t enough to win the game for the Reds, who let it slip out of their fingers after clawing their way back from a 2-0 deficit.

While Firmino is proud of his individual achievements, he made a point to emphasize that the team performance was the more important.

“[They were] important goals but how we performed as a team was more important, adapting to games against difficult opponents away from home to get the right result.

“It was great to reach the last game and have something important to play for. Last season it was sad that we had no European games but we worked hard and now we’re really looking forward to them next season.

“We’ll have more games to play but, as I’ve said before, I would play twice a week if I could. It shows the team is moving in the right direction.”

Putting Firmino up top, supported by Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mané, gave him plenty of opportunities to score last season — with the partnership between the two Brazilians particularly exciting. Hopefully next season sees him get even more times to shine.

Do you agree with Firmino’s assessment of his top three goals of the season, or would you rank them differently? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
