Liverpool will play one final game before they begin their summer break. The last match of the year is a friendly that takes the all the way to Sydney, Australia, and will include some familiar faces.
Making the trip with the Reds are Liverpool legends Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Steve McManaman, and Daniel Agger. Klopp took a strong squad with him, but there are some faces that Aussies won’t get to see today. Emre Can has been called to play for Germany in the Confederations Cup and so didn’t travel with the team, while Philippe Coutinho, and Marko Grujic both of stayed back in England.
The game will be played in front of over 80,000 people at ANZ Stadium, against Sydney FC.
This game is the start of Liverpool’s 125th anniversary celebrations, with a party and pre-game festivities planned. With any luck, the Reds will put on a show. If nothing else, it’s always good to see the Liverpool legends put on the kit again and run around. It should be fun to see them playing alongside the current team members as well.
With Liverpool’s season ending on a high note and Champions League football achieved, expect spirits to be high around the stadium as the teams take the pitch.
Kickoff: 8:00 PM local time (Wednesday) /11:00 AM GMT /6:00 AM EST from ANZ Stadium, Sydney, Australia
Ways to Watch: The game will be aired live on LFCTV for subscribers. It’s also being aired in Denmark on TV3 Sport 2. So congrats, Danes. You get Daniel Agger and this game.
