It’s a bit of a way to fly for a victory lap, but Liverpool’s trip to Sydney for a special friendly against Sydney FC was always going to be a love-in. Liverpool legends Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, and Steve McManaman are all set to appear for the club, and it is also a celebration of the club’s 125th anniversary. Now, though, the fans and players will get to honor another achievement: making it back into the Champions League for the 2017-18 season.

For manager Jürgen Klopp, after the stress of the season finally lifted, their Australian trip is the perfect opportunity to revel in some much-earned celebration, and he’s excited to experience that with the fans down under.

"I’m already really looking forward to how they react now," he told the official website.

"We go in the stadium and 80,000 Liverpool supporters are there and they are the first who can really celebrate the good season with us. Let’s do it together with all these quality players plus legends - a few of them can play because after the last game and the flight we will see how we can line-up.

"It will be nice even though it’s quite intense but it could have been worse, we could have used bicycles to get over!

"It’s all good, it feels good, the mood is good."

With that bicycle comment, Klopp has reached the “dad joke” level of happiness, which is a good sign.

The game will kick off at 8PM local time, which translates to 11AM GMT/ 6AM EST.
