Liverpool knew they needed a victory over Middlesborough to ensure a top four finish and fought through a slow start before rounding into form late in the first half and easing to a 3-0 win. By the end it had turned into a training drill, as the Reds held possession, attacked, and looked to find potentially final goals in red for a few likely departing players.
