Fear not. Philippe Coutinho only has a dead leg. Despite being caught late by Watford FC defender Adrian Mariappa and struggling on until the 13 minute mark, Coutinho should be fit for Sunday’s game against Southampton at Anfield.
Coutinho’s injury forced Adam Lallana into action earlier than planned, and presumably Klopp will be looking to name both of his key players in the starting line-up against Claude Puel’s side. The relieving news is that Coutinho didn't suffer a serious injury that would have ruled him out of the final three league games.
Klopp said: “Phil has a dead leg. Hopefully it's not too serious but it's really painful and there was no chance he could continue, everybody could see he tried.”
Lallana got 74 minutes of action and looked exhausted by the time he came off—completely understandable after missing the last five games through injury. Three points, a beautiful Emre Can goal, Lallana’s return from injury, a Daniel Sturridge appearance, winning without yet another attacking player, and our magician Coutinho only suffering a dead leg are all reasons to be thankful.
Next it's a team that Liverpool haven't scored against in three games this season.
