Given all the grumbling about Daniel Sturridge’s future and the frantic whispers about his start today against West Ham, it’s a touch poetic that he’s the one who put Liverpool into the lead.
Philippe Coutinho hit a gorgeous throughball from midfield that split West Ham’s defense open. Sturridge, onside and resplendent, ran onto the pass and found himself one-on-one with Adrián. He rounded the keeper and slotted in to give the Reds a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.
Lovely. Simply lovely.
