Liverpool Might Play Bayern in Preseason Tour

Organizers of the Audi Cup are apparently interested in bringing Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool to Munich.

The Merseyside Reds vs. The Bavarian Reds. The Reds vs. Die Roten. Liverpool vs. Bayern Munich. This season isn’t even close to finished, but fans could have that exciting match up to look forward to this upcoming preseason if the rumor mongers are on to something.

Every other season, Bayern hosts the Audi Cup, a 4-team, 2-day tournament at their home in the magnificent Allianz Arena. Apparently the organizers are interested in bringing Jürgen Klopp (and presumably his squad) back to Germany for this year’s rendition of the cup. The Audi Cup is currently scheduled for August 1-2, though that is subject to change depending on the availability of teams.

The pre-season competition has attracted top sides in the past, and also Manchester United, so it would likely ensure two good tune-ups against top competition. In 2015 the hosts won the competition over Real Madrid, with Tottenham defeating AC Milan in the third-place game. Boca Juniors, Manchester City, and Barcelona have also featured in recent renditions.

If Liverpool choose to participate, it will be after their scheduled trips to Shanghai and Hong Kong in July.

On a personal note, I hope this happens. I have friends to visit in Munich, and several liters of beer to drink, and not in that order.
