Despite the nascent sense of reawakening in the aftermath of last week's performance against Arsenal, this was always going to be a tough match for Liverpool, and Jürgen Klopp knew it. Facing a well-organized Burnley side that has nonetheless struggled away from Turf Moor, but doing so without Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool would have to show a different side to their game.
Things got off to a poor start when an excellent pass from the right set up Ashley Barnes to give the visitors the lead, but Liverpool struck back seconds before half-time through Georginio Wijnaldum, and then took the lead through an Emre Can rocket in the second half. The proceedings remained on a knife edge the rest of the way, but the Reds, who were better in the second half, managed to hang on against a determined Burnley side to seize three precious points at home.
Now let us know how you saw it. Hitting the thumbs up button is a vote to move the player up the list—or to help keep them on top. Hitting thumbs down is a vote to push that player closer to the bottom. It's half man of the match poll and half power ranking, and we want to use it to find out who you think played well after each Liverpool match and, at the other end, who you'd maybe like to see given the next game off.
