Hey, we’re back! Hope your two weeks past more quickly than mine. But that’s the final international break until spring done and dusted, and Saturday marks the beginning of the festive period mad rush. Liverpool host Southampton at Anfield, and let’s hope that they find it in them to do a bit better this time around than they did all last season. Like, for instance, let’s hope they manage to score a goal.
Liverpool’s internationals returned relatively unscathed, but leave it to the Reds to pick up an injury on a player who DIDN’T go off to play for his country. Joel Matip will likely miss today’s match as a pre-caution, which means it will likely be Ragnar Klavan partnered with Dejan Lovren in the back. With Virgil Van Dijk playing opposite them, I think we’ve figured out what the big story will be this afternoon. Hopefully the narrative tilts our way.
